Our Mission

Issues of Organic EL lighting

Organic EL has to be driven at high brightness of 5000cd/m2 or more, which makes enough illuminance as a main lighting. In order to realize the practical application of Organic EL lighting, there are some remained issues, even making use of the advantages such as flat thin panel and light weight.

To achieve higher efficiency than fluorescent bulb and durability at high-power input

To produce low cost panels available as consumable supplies

To discover the new application appropriate for advantages of organic EL and promotion of that

Our Mission

Research Institute for Organic Electronics has its important mission of establishing the fundamental technology to industrialize Organic EL. We especially have to solve three above-mentioned issues for the practical application of the Organic EL.

At first, we focus on upgrading the performance of Organic EL device itself, for example, achieving high efficiency equivalent to fluorescent bulb is at high luminance and making it durable for high power input to use as lighting fixture. Next, we make an effort to establish the manufacturing process technology which can cut the production cost, while increasing its capacity and material utilization efficiency. It means the development of next-generation manufacturing system. Finally, we also attempt to expand in application and find out new uses of the Organic EL though prototyping unprecedented stuff from various industries where conventional lighting hasn’t been applied.
